AffiVET® Feline Immunodeficiency Virus FIV Antibody & Feline Leukemia Virus FeLV Antigen Rapid Test Kit
Cat Number: AFG-VR-58
Size: 10 Tests
Species: Feline
Sample: Whole Blood, Serum & Plasma
Test Principal
- The AffiVET® Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) Antibody & Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) Antigen Rapid Test Kit is a chromatographic immunoassay designed for the qualitative detection of Feline Leukemia Virus antigen and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus antibody in feline serum, plasma, or whole blood.
- The test kit features the letters “T” and “C” as the Test line and Control line on the device's surface. These lines are not initially visible before the application of any samples. The Control line serves as a procedural control, indicating that the test procedure has been performed correctly and that the test reagents of the Control line are functional. The appearance of the Control line is crucial in validating the test results.
- A purple Test line will become visible in the result window if there is a sufficient presence of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus antibody and/or Feline Leukemia Virus antigen in the specimen.
- The assay employs highly selective Feline Immunodeficiency Virus antigens and antibodies against Feline Leukemia Virus as capture and detector molecules. These antigens and antibodies exhibit high accuracy in detecting FIV antibodies and FeLV antigens in feline samples, ensuring reliable results.

Storage & Stability:
1) Store the test kit at 2~30℃. DO NOT FREEZE.
2) Do not store the test kit in the direct sunlight.
3) The test kit is stable within the expiration date marked on the package label.
Sample collection & Preparation:
1. For testing with this kit, feline whole blood, serum, or plasma should be used.
Whole blood: Collect into the provided anticoagulant tube (maximum volume 1.5ml). If not tested immediately, refrigerate at 2~8°C and use within 24 hours.
Serum: Collect into a tube without anticoagulants (such as heparin, EDTA, or sodium citrate), allow to settle for 30 minutes for coagulation, then centrifuge to obtain serum supernatant.
Plasma: Collect into a tube with anticoagulants (such as heparin, EDTA, or sodium citrate), then centrifuge to obtain plasma.
2. Serum or plasma samples not tested immediately should be refrigerated at 28°C. For longer storage, freezing is recommended. Frozen samples should be brought to room temperature (1530°C) before use.
3. Samples with precipitate may produce inconsistent test results and should be clarified before testing.
4. Avoid using hemolytic or bacterially contaminated samples, as they may lead to erroneous results.
Test Procedure:
1. All reagents and samples must be brought to room temperature (15~30°C) before use
2. Remove the test device from the foil pouch and place it on a flat, dry surface.
3. Using a capillary tube, add 1 drop (approximately 10 μl) of sample into each sample hole (S) on the test device.
4. Add 2 drops (approximately 60 μl) of assay diluent into each sample hole (S) vertically.
5. Start the timer and allow the sample to flow across the result window. If it does not appear after 1 minute, add one more drop of assay diluent.
6. Interpret the test results at 10 minutes. Do not read the results after 20 minutes as this may lead to inaccurate interpretation.
Result Interpretation:
Negative result
Presence of C-Line
Absence of T-Line
Positive result:
Presence of C-Line ( FIV Ab and FeLV Ag)
Presence of T-Line ( FIV Ab)
Absence of T-Line ( FeLV Ag)
FIV Ab Positive
Presence of C-Line ( FIV Ab and FeLV Ag)
Presence of T-Line ( FeLV Ag)
Absence of T-Line ( FIV Ab)
FeLV Ag Positive
Presence of C-Line ( FIV Ab and FeLV Ag)
Presence of T-Line ( FIV Ab and FeLV Ag)
FIV Ab and FeLV Ag Positive
Invalid Result:
Absence of C-Line
Presence of T-Line
Or
Absence of C-Line
Absence of T-Line
Cautions:
- This test kit is specifically designed for feline use only. Do not use it for other animals.
- Handle the test device with care as it is sensitive to both humidity and heat. Perform the test immediately after removing the device from the foil pouch.
- Do not attempt to reuse any of the test components.
- Apply the sample and assay diluent vertically onto the test device as instructed.
- Avoid touching the membrane in the result window of the test device.
- Do not use the test kit beyond the expiration date indicated on the package label.
- Do not use the test kit if the pouch appears damaged or if the seal is broken.
- Ensure that you do not mix components from different lot numbers during testing.
- Treat all samples as potentially infectious. Wear protective gloves while handling samples and wash hands thoroughly afterward.
- Properly decontaminate and dispose of all samples, used kits, and any potentially contaminated materials according to established guidelines.
