What is Ovine brucellosis (OB)?
Ovine brucellosis (OB) is a bacterial sheep disease characterised by infertility in rams. Infected rams produce semen of lower quality, making them sub-fertile or sterile. The effect on flock fertility depends on the percentage of infected rams and flock breeding management.
Goat & Sheep Brucellosis antibody:
Ovine and caprine brucellosis is commonly caused by B.melitensis. Humans may be infected by contact with animals or animal products contaminated with these bacteria. Available serological tests include the Rose Bengal, ELISA, complement fixation test and tube agglutination test. However, these tests require sample preparation or specialized person and equipment.
